Understanding
Our Differences Program:
Newton Public Schools
"Understanding Our Differences helps us learn and practice respect for human differences. It shows us not only how people are different, but also how we are all the same." Dr. Jeffrey Young
Superintendent, Newton Public Schools
“Respect for human differences” is one of the core values
of the Newton Public Schools. It doesn’t just say so in the
mission statement – it’s imbued in the culture.
It is no surprise, then, that this is the home of Understanding
Our Differences, a nationally-recognized, award-winning disability
awareness program teaching acceptance and respect to thousands of
children and adults.
